Scholarships and Subsidy
All Scholarship Applications are accepted and approved on a first come, first serve basis, within the priority schedule that follows.
All applications must include a copy of the most recent tax return filed by the parent(s)/guardian(s). Shady Lane funds scholarship and subsidy support through three primary sources: the Shady Lane Scholarship Endowment; designated proceeds raised through the Riverview/Shady Lane Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Organization; and other annual fundraising and grants specifically supporting scholarship at Shady Lane. Eligibility for scholarship does NOT guarantee actual receipt of scholarship; the total of scholarships granted is limited by the available funds in any given year.
First Priority
Subsidized Scholarships
All scholarship funds available to provide tuition assistance for students at Shady Lane School will first be applied to cover qualifying for Child Care Information Services (CCIS) subsidies. These Subsidized Scholarships are available to families receiving CCIS who fall below the maximum discount offered by the sliding fee scholarships outlined below. (The CCIS eligibility regulations are based on family size and family annual income equal to or less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines.)
Second Priority
Staff and Returning Student Scholarships
Any Shady Lane staff member who has one or more children enrolled at Shady Lane School will be eligible for either Subsidized or Sliding Fee Scholarships as described herein, and applications for such Staff Scholarships shall be granted (consistent with these guidelines) in priority to other Sliding Fee Scholarship applications. No other staff discount benefit shall be granted. Renewal of a Sliding Fee Scholarship for all returning students must be requested through reapplication with current income information annually. As with initial applications, renewals of Sliding Fee Scholarships are contingent on available funding.
Third Priority
New Sliding Fee Scholarships
Sliding Fee Scholarships are based on family size and total annual gross family income, and are made available to those who meet income eligibility guidelines (some income exclusions exist), age criteria and the extent that scholarship funds are available during any given year.
New Sliding Fee Scholarships are made only after fully funding the need for enrolled children who receive Subsidized Scholarships, Staff Scholarships and renewals of Sliding Fee Scholarships for returning students.
All scholarship information, including names of applicants and all financial information, is confidential. Only those determining scholarship eligibility, reporting on program use and effectiveness, maintaining program records or who are responsible for review of the scholarship program have access to personal scholarship and financial information.
Receipt of any scholarship is a privilege, and continued availability is contingent on current payment of the remaining portion of tuition due each month.
Scholarship awards may be terminated if payment of tuition becomes more than 30 days past due. In the event that a child should withdraw from the program before the end of any month in which a scholarship discount is awarded and applied, the unused portion of the scholarship will be refunded to the originating scholarship fund.
